Earthyhue by Geetika
I am Geetika Singhal,a self taught artist from Delhi. From a very young age I was always enchanted by the patterns and detailing in Madhubani art. Little did I know that this fascination will one day become my calling. After graduation from NIFT Delhi in 2003, I took my learning of pattern a design and worked in the fashion industry before becoming a homemaker to raise a beautiful family.
During the 2020 pandamic lockdown, to keep my sanity intact I attended an 'online' workshop by Venkat Shyam ji and was sucked into the wonderful, immersive world of art again. The smell of paint revived the creative side in me that had become dormant.
Painting kept me grounded in those unprecedented times, redirected my thoughts and nervous energies about living through a global pendemic and channelling them into a productive, positive space
Being a perfectionist, the intricate detailing required in art became therapeutic in those difficult days. Hence, 'Earthyhues by Geetika' was created in 2020.
Inspired by nature, this series is steeped in traditional patterns of Madhubani and Gond art but with a modern twist.
As this pandemic has remineded us of the need for sustainable living and peaceful coexistence with nature, my painting, I hope, will bring a sense of peace and calm to any collectors home.
